...The updated Second Bulletin (Draft) of the High-level International Forum on Water Resources and Hydropower, which is to be held in Beijing, China during October 16-18 has been released!

 

    We hope that you will find this updated bulletin helpful for you to know more about this Forum, and that you can send us your Registration Form (file attached), CV (Rezume), and electronic photo, if you have not yet sent them.

 

    In case this is your first of hearing about this Forum, below is a brief introduction of this Forum for your reference. We hope you, as an expert in water resources or hydropower, can join us for the benefit of all human beings.

 

    The Forum is hosted by Ministry of Water Resources of China, organized by China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), and co-sponsored by a group of international organizations and some Chinese corporations related to this industry, such as International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR), Global Water Partnership (China), and China Huadian Corporation.

 

    We are honored to have many prestigious experts as the presidents of the advisory, organizing, and technical committees, including Luis Berga (President of International Commission on Large Dams), Nobuyuki Tamai (President of International Association for Hydraulic Research), Desmond Walling (President of World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research), QIAN Zhengying (former Vice President of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering), and CHEN Lei (Minister of Water Resources of People's Republic of China).

 

    Designed to collect world wisdom and creativity to find realistic solutions to global crisis such as global climate change, water scarcity, environmental pollution, frequent occurs of natural disasters and soaring energy demand, etc, the forum will be a wonderful platform for experts, scholars and managers from all over the world to exchange their latest research findings and achievements and to inspire new thoughts through discussion and communication.

 

    There are all-together eight themes:

    1. Climate Change and Countermeasures

    2. Water Resources and Management

    3. Hydropower, Renewable Energy and Dam Safety

    4. Water and Food Security

    5. Water and Environment

    6. Flood Management and Drought Mitigation

    7. Water and Soil Conservation

    8. Water Issues During and After Earthquake

 

    The eighth theme was added as a special session after the devastating earthquake hit Wenchuan in Sichuan Province and other places in southwestern and northwestern China.
